The Director and Owner
Taheerah Allen, director of Dancers In Motion, began her dancing career thirty eight years ago at the age of 4. Her achievements competing in various competitions throughout the tri-state area have resulted in multiple top honors. She was crowned “Little Miss American Star” 1987 and “Miss EPA” in 1994, 1995, 1996 consecutively. With vigorous hard work and dedication, Taheerah has trained at Montclair University (Montclair, NJ), and Broadway Dance Center (NY, New York). Throughout her journey she has had the honor to train under Frank Hatchett and Charles Kelly. She pursued her teaching degree from the Dance Educators of America and with a dream of someday owning her own studio, in 2000 her dream came true when she opened Dancers In Motion!

Taheerah has managed to also teach at numerous schools and conventions across New Jersey. Her love of dance has compelled her to choreograph town plays and talent shows which are always a huge success! She also has judged competitive dance across the country for competitions and conventions like Star Systems National Dance Competition and many more. Taheerah has had former students compete at a collegiate level on dance teams like Hofstra and the University of Delaware, as well as seen former DIM students continue to dance professionally for companies, cruise lines, music videos, and musicals. Taheerah looks forward to continuing to teach and inspire the future generation of dancers.

Classes
Dancers In Motion offers tap, jazz, lyrical, ballet, contemporary, and hip hop from pre-school to teens. We offer private lessons as well as group classes based upon age. Our staff is very well educated and experienced in all styles of dance.

Among the programs offered at DIM we have competition groups that are an award-winning program based upon skill level and auditions. Age groups are minis 7-9, juniors 10-12, teens 13-15 and seniors 16-18. These groups attend monthly competitions through out the tri-state area and country where they have won multiple awards such as Titles, Overall Scores, Platinums, High Golds and many more. In 2009, 2012, and 2018 Dancers in Motion was awarded National Dance Off Champions at the end of the year Nationals competition.
